Kayaks are a great way to be close to the water and really see the shoreline. Walk to the dock behind quaint yellow Bayview B&B and you’ll find Captain Bruce Fink’s sailing catamaran Mackinaw Breeze. There are three very popular foot races held each summer on the Island, organized by Gault Racing. Each race covers a different route with varied terrain and awesome vistas. Runners, walkers and handicapped participants are all invited. June 11th is the Lilac Festival 10k Run, September 10th is the Mackinac 8 mile run and October 22, is the Great Turtle half marathon and 5.7 mile run/walk. During the winter season, Islanders typically fly on and off the Mackinac for their mainland needs. Great Lakes Air serves the Island not just during the winter but all year long.
